Interactive Whiteboards

For the past 2 1/2 years, I have been lucky enough to have a Smartboard in my computer labs at the elementary schools where I teach. We also have a Mimio stick in each building.
I have found the Smartboard incredibly useful to me as a teacher. In the past, when I would teach a lesson, my back was always to the students as I would point out what was being projected in the front of the room. Now, I can stand and face the class as I teach which increased student on-task time dramatically.
Additionally, students come up and interact with the lesson in a hands-on way. For example, while using The Graph Club 2.0 students came up to drag icons onto the class graph we were creating.
The Smartboard educator resources are a phenomenal source for pre-made lessons. Click here to view. By showing these lessons to the classroom teachers I work with, I have helped them to better integrate the teaching of our state standards with technology.
What is your favorite activity for the Smartboard?
